Welcome news indeed that the Mayor Boris Johnson and Transport for London (TfL) has announced three pilot locations for the Legible London pedestrian wayfinding system and has named the designers who are to implement them. Applied Information Group (AIG) will be responsible for a Clear Zone Partnership pilot in Bloomsbury, Covent Garden and Holborn, which are located within the City of Westminster and the Borough of Camden. Atkins are developing the South Bank and Bankside pilot, in the boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark, and City ID and partners Faber Maunsell are responsible for a Richmond and Twickenham pilot in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. AIG has been confirmed as overall System Designer to oversee design development of Legible London.

If successful, Legible London will be rolled out across parts of Central London and the Olympic area before 2012.

AIG creates identity for Open Futures

18-09-2008

The Helen Hamlyn Trust has enlisted Malcolm Garrett at Applied Information Group to create an identity for its Open Futures skills and enquiry based learning initiative. AIG were asked to develop a look and feel for the programme that would reslove existing naming concerns and could handle the complexity of resources and different requirements while remaining accessible and attractive for primary schoolchildren, teachers and parents who are the primary intended audience.

Open Futures is an education initiative for Primary Schools funded and directed by The Helen Hamlyn Trust. Its purpose is to help children discover and develop practical skills, personal interests and values which will contribute to their education and enhance their adult lives.

The programme has four strands – growit, cookit, filmit and askit – developed with and delivered by partner individuals and organisations – Andy Cameron, RHS, Focus on Food and Sappere – and has been launched in time for the new school year in 2009.
